Are you ready to be an integral part of a team, comprising talented hard-working people, with a set of common goals and dreams for the future?
Do you have what is required to take an innovative idea and develop it into a product with clear near-term commercial potential?

Celignis is a pioneering SME that was spun-out from state-of-the art research undertaken by its founder and CEO Daniel Hayes. Since its launch, Celignis has rapidly grown to be the leading provider of
compositional analysis services to stakeholders in the bioeconomy. Over that period we have taken the time to carefully recruit people that not only share the work ethic and
ambition of its founder but also bring additional areas of expertise, allowing Celignis to grow and expand in new exciting markets.
As a result of our hard work we are now in a strong position to move beyond being solely an analytical laboratory by developing commercially-relevant IP suitable for scale-up in a
number of growing markets. Already highly successful in participating in research consortia, we recently secured funding that will allow us to take the first-step in this new exciting chapter for the company
SAPHIRE “Self-Assembling Plant-based Hydrogels Induced by Redox Enzymes” is a novel conceptual process designed to produce environmentally-friendly, 100% plant-based, superior-quality hydrogels for food,
cosmetic and pharmaceutical applications. Through the INNOSUP programme we have funding to recruit
a suitable person to lead the development of this concept into a patentable process and prototype product with clear commercial potential. The position is funded for one year but we are looking for
someone to be with us for the long term, experiencing the highs and lows of growing a small company, while taking a proactive role in steering the direction and catalysing the speed of growth.
As a result, the person recruited for this position will be expected to secure funding that will allow their placement to continue beyond year one and the huge commercial potential of SAPHIRE to be
realised by effectively progressing along the TRL scale.
Requirements
This will be a challenging but highly rewarding role. The chosen candidate should be motivated to not only achieve the deliverables and milestones required in SAPHIRE but also to advance the
company in a number of different areas.
At Celignis no-one works on their own, we are a team working together to make a real difference in the world. We are looking for someone brimming with ideas and strategies for securing growth
in new markets and with the confidence and communication skills to ensure that those ideas are heard both inside and outside the company. Engagement with parties that could fund the development of
our innovations will be a key part of the role and you should be an effective communicator that shows to the world the dynamism and passion at Celignis.
Experience in starting or running a business would be fantastic, as that will show you understand and embrace the challenges in facilitating growth, but any experience in establishing
and seeing-through a task with clear commercial relevance will be of great benefit to your application. A proven track-record in securing funds would also help.
You should also not be afraid of getting your hands dirty, undoubtedly there will be days when routine laboratory work will be required, similarly there will be a need to focus with
steely determination on our KPIs and securing the required funding. We are looking for someone that leads by example and whose activities will be an inspiration for existing and future employees.
As for the technical stuff, experience with bio-polymers and the use of enzymes would be great and the applicant should have a PhD in these, or similarly-relevant, areas.
In accordance with the requirements of the INNOSUP programme, the applicant should comply with transnational mobility criteria as defined in the mobility rule of the Marie Skłodowska Curie Actions (MSCA). This specifies
that the applicant must not have resided or carried out his/her main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Ireland for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately before appointment under the project.
Benefits
If you take up this position you will part of a fantastic team of nine, adding your unique talents to a group experienced in many disciplines, including: business development, analytical chemistry,
bio-processing, and chemometrics. Our management structure at Celignis is flat and everyone has a voice in the development of the company.
You will also benefit from our wide global network of clients and collaborators. For example, we are currently active in a number of high-level research projects funded by the EU’s Horizon 2020 programme,
collaborating with some of the best organisations and brightest minds in Europe.
The position has an attractive salary (€69.5k for the year) and we have also designed a detailed training program covering an on-boarding process
to make you feel at home with us, along with top-level external training (worth €20k) that is particularly focused on the economic evaluation of the process, project management,
and intellectual property rights. We have also allocated €3.5k in relocation funds to get you settled in Limerick.
Most important of all, you will see first-hand how scientific advances can lead to real exploitable commercial results and will be able to say, years from now, that you played a key role in
making the shared dream of the Celignis team a reality.
How to Apply
The position is available from September so, if you think you have what it takes, please get in touch with us at
info@celignis.com including your CV and cover letter
.
Also, feel free to call us on (+353) 61 371 725 to discuss about how, together, we can really make something great.
