Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD)


Chemical oxygen demand (COD) is the amount of oxygen required to decompose organic matter and for the oxidation of inorganic chemicals such as ammonia and nitrite. In anaerobic digestion it is essential to know the COD content of the substrate and digestate in order to calculate the substrate loading rate and digestion efficiency.
